Rachel's Apartment

• Rachel has Esther as a long-time room-mate and her recently-added third room-mate is Paola Maijstral. Roony Winsome frequently comes here to talk with Rachel and to look for Paola, who is rarely around.
  
• Paola gives The Confessions of Fausto Maijstral to Stencil at Rachel's.
  
• When Esther is knocked-up by Schoenmaker, she and Rachel have a fight in Rachel's laundry room and Esther flees to Raoul, Slab, and Melvin's. Roony eventually jumps out of the window here, but lands on the fire escape. Pig is able to prevent him from jumping again (while somebody plays Don't Be Cruel across the court), and Roony is carted off to Bellevue.

  
  

• Chapter 13: In which the yo-yo string is revealed as a state of mind--368: In a flashback, Profane wakes up in Rachel's apartment. He is late for work and has difficult dealing with various inanimate objects.

• 370-371: After yo-yoing on the subway all day, Profane returns to Rachel's apartment. They make love, he falls asleep.

• 371-379: After yo-yoing on the Staten Island ferry the next day, Profane runs into Pig Bodine at a fish market and returns again to Rachel's apartment. Paola is there, and Pig tries to screw her. Profane pulls him off of her and reminds Pig of a favor he is owed. This leads to a
